There’s a saying that goes “Simplicity is the best”. Come and enjoy the diversity of our route. Experience our cultural lifestyle which will renew your outlook on life. Sleep in a matjieshut or under the stars. Enjoy a cup of our organic traditional rooibos tea and a mouthwatering slice of homemade bread or “roosterkoek”. Learn about medicinal plants and their traditional use. Book for a “veldkos” course during August -September and learn to identify which plants are edible and which not. Harvest your own rooibos tea, learn how to collect Rooibos seed and also how to make a baby bag from sheepskin.

Rock art on the route
Discover this amazing language of the past, painted on the walls of caves and rock shelters which have survived over hundreds and thousands of years. The graphic history of the San people. The San were the first indigenous people of South Africa and their rock art is the only witness of an ancient and largely lost culture. Experience this ancient culture in remote places.

Spring flowers and Nature
Depending on the rainfall and other weather conditions the highlight of the route is the trasnsformation into a floral showcase during July- September. Pay a visit to the wild flower reserve and bulb nursery in Nieuwoudtville. Relax at spectacular waterfalls. Enjoy different kinds of hiking routes and don’t miss out on a visit to the extraordinary rock formation “Die Ereboog” near Eselbank in the Cederberg. Visit the 300 million years old glacial floor at Oorlogskloof south of Nieuwoudtville at any time of the year.
